"Skeleton Creek" - Book Review

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another blog post and review! In this post, I will be reviewing Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman. I am on school holidays! (Yay!) which means I can do some more reading and reviewing!

Synopsis
Ryan is forbidden to visit and communicate with his friend Sarah. Why? Because he almost died. Sarah and Ryan went exploring and came across "a terrible machine" called the Dredge. Something about it is not right. Something about Skeleton Creek is not right. There are secrets that are not meant to be found. Although banned from contacting each other, Ryan and Sarah secretly communicate via email and together they continue to solve the mystery of Skeleton Creek and the Dredge. Ryan documents in a journal of what he discovers and what he remembers. (The journal is the book) Sarah documents what she finds by video. (Included in the book)  What will they discover?

My Review
Skeleton Creek was a great read! Towards the middle-end, I could not put it down! I loved how the book included the links to Sarah's video which made it much more interactive. Without the videos, the book would have become a bit boring and some parts would not have made clear sense. The book kind of relied on the videos, however, I did love that feature! Some of the videos were quite scary! But that made it more suspenseful and not as boring. The book itself was intriguing to read. At the beginning it was quite dull but as I kept reading, I could not put the book down. I feel like I enjoyed the book more as it was written in a teen style which is why I definitely recommend to tweens and teens as they will be entertained much more than young adults would. There were a lot of questions unanswered but as this is a series, the answers may be revealed in the other books. I do believe some of the clues did not make 100% sense and I wanted the mystery to be solved instead of reading other past events. I also thought the book was based on the adventure of young teens around 14+ but the actors in the videos looked like they were adults so that slightly wrecked the gist of the book as the choices of the characters were sometimes a bit childish/silly but the actors seemed older. Overall, the book was a fun read, the videos were a great add-on feature and made the book more engaging and thrilling. Some of the videos were slightly scary but only because you did not know what was going to happen next! The "scary part" is when the skeleton/phantom/ghost is shown. I also liked how the book ended on a cliffhanger! This means I will have to read the next book to find out what happens next and so will the reader!

Star Rating
I rate Skeleton Creek ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hoped it helped have a better understanding!
