"White Night" Book Review

Hello everyone! I have been extremely busy with school work and have not had time to write a review. But today, this blog post and review is on the book White Night by Ellie Marney.

General Information
White Night  is roughly 367 pages long.
Genre: Real Life, Drama, Romance, Thriller.
Age Recommendation: White Night is a Young Adult Fiction book. My recommendation is for ages 15+
*Please Note* There is strong language.

Synopsis
Bo Mitchell lives in a country town and does not have much on his mind apart from focusing on school, football, cooking, friends and family. But when a family secret uncovers, Bo needs a place to resort. The Garden Of Eden is a secret cloistered community and Rory Wild lives there. When Bo and Rory meet, it is sort of like love at first sight. Rory has never been to a proper school before so she is trying to fit in. A "White Night" show fundraiser is organised by Bo and his friends to raise money to save the local skate park. Bo is introduced to Rory's community and he is attached. But what types of secret are hidden away from the outsiders?

My Review
White Night was an interesting read. The plot was very original and had a few twists. However, the romance factor was introduced into the book too early. At the beginning of the novel, the protagonist (Bo) and his friends thought that the "new girl" (Rory) was weird, but by Chapter 2,  the protagonist starts becoming friends and falling in love. Also, I know this is a romance book but around halfway of reading, I felt a bit bored whenever "Rory" popped up. In my mind, I kept thinking, "Rory again" and "Rory this and Rory that." If the book focused a little more about the life of the protagonist and his friends, it would have been more interesting. In fact, the book would  have been much better if there was more background history about Bo's friends. A more positive note is that the twists were thrilling to read, I wanted to know more as the action started happening. When there was small pieces of action, the book was more engaging, but there were parts where it was focused on romance and uninteresting things. Also, towards the end, the story line was slightest bit predictable. There was some foreshadowing in the story. I liked the perspective of the Community Of Eden and how Rory had lived her life. The book did appeal to my emotions when there was bullying and towards the end where some secrets were spilled, this did make the book a better read as it made me more immersed.

Overall Rating
Overall, I rate White Night ★★★☆☆

"If  you enjoy Romance mixed with Real Life Drama then White Night is the book for you. With a few twists, White Night makes the reader want to keep reading to find out what happens next." Book Reviews By Sophie McC
